Weird deal. One of the best pitching prospects in baseball and a plus major league OF for...Matt LaPorta?

WoW Fellers Got Robbed!
I don't like to veto trades, but this one is highway robbery. Bay is a top 15 OF in his prime, Feliz is a top 10 prospect and Marrero is the Nats top prospect for LaPorta (who has slipped down the prospect rankings) and Mills who is a solid prospect.
So Bay and Feliz for Laporta and Mills for Marerro....?
Sorry I have to call Veto on this one.

I don't know what are rules say but vetoing trades is more trouble than its worth. Each owner is in charge of his own franchise and can do what they want. As long as it's not completely ridiculous or some sort of collusion, I see no reason to veto any deal.

I'm okay with this trade just for no other reason than Fellers got 2nd last year so he obviously knows what he is doing. I say give the new kid a chance to make up some ground in the standings.
I don't see any collusion here.
Any more veto votes have to come in before 10 am on Saturday or this trade become final.

I agree, I hate vetos. But if this is not Highway Robbery and a very lopsided trade, I don't know what is. It's one thing to pull the job, it's another to have a completely lopsided trade.
The trade would've been completely fair, minus..... Jason Bay !?!?!

Two great trades for Emanski since he has joined the league. He knows his stuff and some how has a way of getting the better end of the deals so far.
I hate vetoing trades, so I'm congratulating Emanski on his success so far.

I think we all just need to step back and look at the situation.
Fellers has enough quality OF to make 2 top notch OF trios. Can't play all of them. Why not package one of them in a deal for 2 of the best prospects in your favorite organization.
Maybe there was some hometown discount but we are all playing this game for one reason... to have fun.

Hometown Discount? He's getting the hometown guys and giving up a LOT, A TON actually, more in return. Not really a hometown discount. I agree that he had the Of's to trade, but why would Neftali Feliz a top 20 Prospect need to be thrown in with Bay and Marrero.
Definitely NOT a discount!
IMO Bay and Morrero or even Feliz and Morerro would have been more than enough to land LaPorta and Mills and be considered an even/fair trade.

Agree to disagree. I appreciate the concern Wood but please don't be disrespectful. Everyone has different opinions.

Dude I'm not being disrespectful by no means, just voicing my opinion on the trade.
If you agree to disagree, Id love to hear how this could possibly be a "Hometown" discount for Fellers.
JASON BAY (Mlb All Star on a Potent Offense, Top 15 MLB OF in his prime) Neftali Feliz (#16 Minor League Prospect) Chris Morrero (#81 Minor League Prospect)
For
Matt Laporta (#17 Minor League Prospect, Slipped due to horrible 2nd half slump) Beau Mills (#72 Minor League Prospect)
I realize you're playing the "nice guy" role here to defend the trade because you want more than anything for this trade to go through as you clearly get the better end of a lopsided deal. But don't tell me I'm being disrespectful when voicing opinions on this trade and please don't try and make people actually think you believe Feller is getting a "Hometown" discount.

OK guys time for me to weigh in. First off Fellers confirms this deal!
Now to explain, although I don't know why I owe it to the league to explain my deals. Clearly my track record in this league should stand for something!
First off I am in this league for two reasons, to win, which I came close and feel like I am returning a pretty good team, and to have fun! So was there a bit of a hometown discount to get LaPorta and Mills, yes! Frankly I like LaPorta and Mills better than Feliz and Marerro. The track record on young phenom pitchers is a lot lower than hitters, and Feliz is still very young. Obviously I liked him a lot or I wouldn't have drafted him in the first place. And Marerro broke his leg last year and lost a big year of development for a high school hitter at young age. It will be years before we really know about these 4.
So its Bay that everyone is hung up on. You know what, I picked up Bay in the supplemental draft, late rounds last year after all teams had ample chances to take him. I tried to trade him then, and everyone told me how crappy a player and washed up he was, I couldn't give him away! Obviously he had a good year and now he is a RED SOX, so everyone now thinks he is the 2nd coming. I could have traded Bay to another team in a swap of major league position players in a meaning less trade for my roster. But I only had one other inquiry on Bay, you guys weren't knocking my door down to get him. My OF is deep and and I can't possibly play all these guys. LaPorta will play the same position as Bay, whenever he gets to Cleveland, is younger, and gives me a roster space on my major league roster for some flexibility going into the season. I also have confidence in my ability to draft minor leagues to fill my roster in the future. I still like my OF of Bruce, Upton, Hamilton, Ibanez, Fukudome, Lewis, Choo & Francisco. I can't play them all, and Ibanez and Bay's numbers are identical, and Ibanez has now moved from Seattle to a hitters park in Philly.
If I wasn't dealing from depth, and felt like I have a good team on paper, would I have made this trade, NO! Bay is not going to run in Boston, and his power numbers are replaceable on my roster. And if it helps the competitive balance in the league great, It only adds to the challenge and the fun!
So everybody relax, lets have fun! I feel great about me team, doesn't mean it won't fall flat on its face, but on paper I like it. Anyone think they can fleece me in trades and beat me in the standings, bring it on!
Still looking for a 2B!
F. Fastballers

Word.
The only thing that concerned me was the trade is lopsided. But after agreeing to it and seeing what the league had to say, I'll retract my Veto and approve the trade. (Not that it mattered)
I guess we're all chasing you, so the league should be happy you made this trade, me included. I do hate trade Vetos but I do feel this one is lopsided, and thought I needed to be heard a bit. Good luck to all....
